Hey it’s me—Ashley, the Massage Therapist at Elite Spinal Chiropractic. I have always loved helping people, and massage has been a passion of mine for years—but I didn’t fully pursue that dream until 2018.
You see, I’m also a mom to two amazing (and very energetic!) boys who have taught and challenged me in so many ways. One of my most meaningful experiences with massage therapy actually began with my oldest son, who has autism.
When he was younger, regulating his emotions was extremely difficult, often leading to powerful meltdowns. Like many parents, my instinct was to comfort him—I would gently rub his arms and head to help calm him. Over time, I noticed that this simple touch helped again and again. That’s when I started to wonder…maybe there’s more to this.
As I began researching, I learned that massage therapy provides gentle, predictable touch that can help “organize” the sensory system—the very system that can become overwhelmed during meltdowns. I started giving my son regular massages, and over time I noticed fewer meltdowns and improvements in how he responded to sensory triggers.
That experience changed everything for me.
While I know every child on the autism spectrum is different, helping calm the “storm within” can be a powerful first step.
Today, I’ve been a Licensed Massage Therapist for nearly 8 years, and choosing this path has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Massage Therapy has been used for years as a way to support overall health and relaxation—not just for the body, but the mind as well. But for me, it’s about more than relaxation. It’s about helping people feel better, function better, and live more comfortably in their own bodies.
I offer a range of massage therapy services tailored to support each individual’s unique needs, whether you’re seeking relaxation, relief, or help with sensory regulation. If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, I invite you to reach out. I’m always happy to help you find the right approach for you or your family.
